BSP workers attack Chhattisgarh SP chief's house
Raipur, Jan 18 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) workers today attacked the house of the Samajwadi Party's Chhattisgarh unit President, Balram Singh Yadav and torched his car after SP workers staged a black flag demonstration against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati who arrived here on a two-day visit.
The BSP workers stormed Mr Yadav's house in New Rajendra Nagar, damaged furniture, smashed window panes and lobbed petrol bombs at the house where nobody was present.
Tension prevailed in the area after a group of SP workers reached the spot. A heavy police force has been deployed. Mr Yadav is reportedly out of station and the demonstration was organised under the leadership of SP District President Anwar Hussain.
Ms Mayawati is in Chhattisgarh to work out her party's strategy for the assembly polls scheduled to be held later this year. She is holding meetings with senior BSP leaders and sections of society.
The BSP supremo is scheduled to address a public meeting here.
''A case is being registered in connection with the incident,'' said Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar.
