BJP to contest K'taka Assembly polls independently
Madikeri, Karnataka, Jan 18 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest the coming Assembly elections in Karnataka on its own, Party State President D V Sadanada Gowda said today.
''We will field candidates in all the 224 Assembly segments without seeking support from any other party. Like Mr L K Advani will be our Prime Ministerial candidate, former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will be the Chief Ministerial candidate,'' he said.
Talking to reporters after a party workers meeting here, he said the party was in the best position to get majority on its own.
On Mr M P Prakash, who had resigned from the JD(S) recently, possibly joining the BJP, he said the party would not invite Mr Prakash and his group, but they were welcome to join the party.
