Bill on sexual assault to be moved in the next Parliament Session
Bangalore, Jan 18 (UNI) National Commission for Women Chairperson Girija Vyas today said that a comprehensive Bill on sexual assault will be moved in the next Parliament session.
Talking to newsmen here, she said that the Commission has recommended stringent punishement for rape cases and also to consider even eve teasing as a rape.
She expressed cocern over the increasing molastion and rape cases in the country.
A separate bill on sexual harassment at work places would also be moved in the next session and both the bills are likely to be approved by the House, she added.
She said she has urged the Centre to allocate separate funds for awareness programmes about the various programmes for protection of women in the country.
Dr Vyas was here in connection with a review of the implementation of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act in the state.
Officials from the state present at the conferance said that it has set up free legal service centres at the office of the Child Development Project offices in all districts in assocation with State Legal Service Authority to help the aggrieved women.
