Tribals ransack collectorate in Chhattisgarh
Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, Jan 17 (UNI) Agitated tribals today ransacked a portion of the local collectorate and damaged vehicles, during a protest against what they described as derogatory remarks against the community in a geography textbook.
The demonstration turned violent when the tribals were stopped at the building's gate. The agitators barged in the premises, damaged furniture, smashed window panes and also targeted vehicles. Police intervened and brought the situation under control.
Later, the tribals also staged a sit-in on the main road, demanding deletion of the controversial remarks and the writer's arrest.
