Shop-owner cheats mobile phone dealers to the tune of Rs 40 lakh
Nashik, Jan 17 (UNI) Several mobile phone dealers here in the city have been cheated by a man who had purchased mobile phones, totally worth over Rs 40 lakh, on credit for his newly-opened shop but had disappeared thereafter.
The dealers have lodged complaints with the police in this regard.
Police said Sanjay Verma set up a shop, ''Mobile World'', one year back. He had purchased a stock of handsets, totally worth over Rs 40 lakh, from several dealers on credit.
However, when the salesmen of the dealers came to collect the payment, they found that Verma had not opened his shop since the last few days.
Upon further inquiries, the dealers learnt that the Gangapur police here had registered a complaint against Verma for eloping with a girl.
On the dealers' complaint, the police searched Verma's shop and discovered that he had taken away all the mobile handsets along with him.
