Seven arrested in theme park watery grave tragedy
Chennai, Jan 17 (UNI) Seven people, including the Deputy General Manager of 'Queensland', an amusement park on the city outskirts where a 11-year-old girl drowned during boating yesterday, were today arrested by the police.
The arrested were produced before a court in suburban Ponneri and remanded in judicial custody.
They were later lodged in Puzhal Central Prison, police sources said.
Those arrested were Queensland DGM See Ban Bon, Supervisors Somasundaram (62), Manikandan (35), boat drivers Jagannathan, Munusamy and helpers Anand and Selvam.
Anusha, a 11-year-old girl drowned in a make-shift lake when a overcrowded boat in which 15 people were having a ride capsized after it was hit by another boat from the rear.
While 14 of them were rescued, Anusha was caught under the boat and met with a watery grave.
The Amusement park was situated near Poonamallee on the Chennai- Bangalore National Highway.
