Osian Film Fest to give away prize money of one cr

Mumbai, Jan 17 (UNI) Over Rs one crore will be given as prize money in the 10th Osian's-Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab cinema for its competition sections and Lifetime Achievement Awards to be held in New Delhi from July 10-20.

The Festival will hold a preview in the metropolis in June, and has added two new sections for felicitation. The first of the newly added category - Intolerence with feature and documentary sections will deal with the issue of intolerance and carry a top prize of Rs eight lakh. The second newly added category - Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to Cinema will carry an award of Rs six lakh.

Among the other categories, the Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing on Cinema introduced in 2004, will carry an award of Rs six lakh each.

Winners in the Asian-Arab and Indian competition sections will be awarded Rs 20 lakh each, with Best Director in each section receiving Rs eight lakh. The Special Jury Award and the Best Actor and Actress will take away Rs two lakh each.

The Best First Feature will receive Rs two lakh with a guaranteed financial support of Rs eight lakh for the winner's next film from the Film Fund Osian's Originating Development (FFOOD), created by Osian's.

The Best Film will take home a cash award of Rs eight lakh. The Audience Award will carry a prize money of Rs two lakh.

Other awards will also be given by International Film Critics Federation (FIPRESCI) and the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC).

Entries for the Festival have also been opened at the organisation's website.

Started in 1999, the Osian-Cinefan Festival acquired and merged into Osian's Connoisseurs of Art in 2004.
