Hotel owner in Kashmir jailed for fraid
Srinagar, Jan 17 (UNI) A local court here today convicted a hotel owner for fraudulently drawing rent for a single premises both from Jammu and Kashmir police and Estates department.
Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, convicted accused Abdul Qayoom Beigh, Managing Partner hotel President, Sonawar for drawing rent from both Estates and Police Departments for a single premises.
The court has imposed a fine of Rs 1,37,675 besides imprisonment of the accused till rising of the court in case FIR number 48/2000 in police station Vigilance Organisation (VO) Kashmir.
A VO spokesman said the case was registered on October 24, 2000 following a complaint from Director Estates alleging that in the course of verification of their records it had surfaced that the owner had fraudulently drawn against fake bills of rent for the Hotel.
He said during the investigation, involvement of the hotel owner was established and offences under section 420/467 proved against him.
The challan of the case was produced by the State Vigilance Organisation on August 7, 2006 and after a trial of about 16 months the accused was convicted by the court.
