Haryana food and supplies department cancels 485 licences
Chandigarh, Jan 17 (UNI) The Vigilance Cell of the Food and Supplies Department in Haryana has cancelled 485 licences and forfeited security of 1294 dealers amounting to over Rs 8.83 lakh for indulging in various corrupt practices in the distribution of essential commodities during the last eight months of the current financial year.
Stating this here today Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that during the period as many as 38 cases had been registered with the police and 22 persons had been arrested. Goods amounting to over Rs 69,810 had been seized from these traders.
He said that at present 9564 fair priced shops were functioning in the state. As many as 77 shops had been located near industrial units and 22 near schools and hostels for providing goods to the labour and students at cheaper rates.
Mr Chander Mohan, who holds the Food and Supplies ministry said that 5168 metric tonnes rice was distributed among the people living Below Poverty Line (BPL) categories. Similarly, 11,398 metric tonnes of wheat was distributed among the BPL families and another 9771 metric tonnes of wheat was distributed among the beneficiaries of Antodyaann Yojna Scheme.
