Jalandhar, Jan 17 (UNI) Guru Harkishan Public School of New Delhi and Government School, Gurgaon played a one-all draw in the 4th All India S Balwant Singh Kapur Memorial Hockey Tournament for boys Under-17 at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today.
GHP School drew the first blood in the 21st minute through Mehtab who converted a penlaty corner. Pressing hard in the closing stages, Gurgaon School neutralised the lead in the 59th minute as Pankaj converted a penalty corner.
Spring Dale Public School White, Amritsar routed Government Senior Secondary School Blue, Sarih by 6-0. The highlight of Spring Dale's impressive triumph was brace each by Ramandeep Singh (7th, penalty corner, 20th minutes) and Rupinder Singh (24th, 38th).
Kuldeep Singh (27th, penalty corner) and Satinderjit Singh (36th) contributed one goal each to swell the winners' tallly.
Puja Modern Senior Secondary School, Kurukshetra outplayed Mehta Gurukul Public School, Doraha by 3-0. All goals were scored in the first half.
Amit Chatha opened the account for the Kurukshetra school by scoring a good field goal in thje 14th minute. Six minutes later, Pawan made it 2-0 before Hans Raj converted a penalty corner in the 22nd minute to complete the winners' tally. Puja Modern School earned three penalty corners out of which they converted the first.
Doraha School wasted penalty corners in the 45th and 47th minutes.
In the third fixture of the day, Government Senior Secondary School, Rampur blanked MGN School, Jalandhar Cantonment by 3-0.
Rampur boys forged ahead in the 16th minute when Sumit Kumar Pal converted a penalty corner. Later Sunil Sonkar (29th) and Rajan Kumar (59th) scored one goal each to make it 3-0.
