Eleven nominations filed on last day for Simaria bypoll
Chatra, Jan 16 (UNI) Altogether eleven nominations were filed today for the February four Simaria Assembly bypoll, taking the total to 15.
The scrutiny of those papers would be done tommorrow and January 21 is the last date for withdrawal.
Sub-divisional officer-cum-electoral officer Bhagwan Das said here that the candidates from the BJP, Congress and UGDP filed their candidature today.
The BJP had fielded Kumar Ujjwal, son of former Simaria MLA Upendranath Das (BJP), whereas former RJD leader Yogendra Baitha was the Congress candidate for the bypoll.
Earlier, nominations had been filed by Jaiprakash Singh Bhokta for Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Democratic), Ramchandra Ram for CPI and CPI(Maoist) ultra Kuldeep Ganjhu as an Independent.
The notification for the bypoll, which was necessitated following the death of Mr Das, was issued on January ten.
Meanwhile, the CPI(M), RJD and JMM announced to extend their support to Mr Ram.
Counting of votes would take place on February seven.
