Election Commission to review poll preparedness in Tripura

Agartala, Jan 17 : Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalaswami and the other two Election Commissioners, S Y Qureshi and Navin Chawla, will review poll preparedness in Tripura today.

During their day-long visit, members of the Commission will hold discussions with representatives of political parties separately.

A single-phase Assembly poll in Tripura will be held on February 23. Out of 60 seats, 20 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes and seven for the Scheduled Castes. he filing of nomination papers will begin on January 30 and will close on February 6. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 9. The counting of votes would take place on March 7. The current term of the Tripura Assembly ends on March 19.
