Committee asked to identify 'performers' for awards
Tiruchirapalli, Jan 17 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Transport Minister K N Nehru appealed to the Tiruchirapalli District Welfare Fund Committee to identify people of various disciplines, including students, to honour them with annual 'Best Perfomance Awards'.
While giving away 'Sinthanai Paeroli' awards during Pongal Kalai Ilakkiya Vizha, organised by the Committee here yesterday, he said such awards would motivate people to excel in their respective fields.
The awardees were T Kodapillai (Aayavarunkalam), K Raja (Thinam Oru Thirukkural), Rishaban R Srinivasan (Pani vilagiya Neram-short stories), Venkatesara Rao Kacharre (Chathrapathi Sivaji) and C Jayaraman (Kalam Pottrum Palam Ayya), Sushila Devi Srinivasan (Pazhankasu-journal), K Meena (AUTSOFT compact disc- science) and D Satheeshkumar (Cancer and Siddha Medicine).
The annual awards, instituted in 2003, were revived this year, Committee treasurer S K Govindarajan said.
Tamil works in various categories, were invited for the honour, he added.
