TRS MPs, MLAs, MLCs will resign on March 6 : KCR
Hyderabad, Jan 16 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and former Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao today threatened that the party MPs, MLAs and MLCs would resign from their posts on March 6 if the Union government did not declare the formation of Telangana in the coming budget session.
Addressing newspersons here, he said four MPs, 16 MLAs and three MLCs of the party would submit their resignation letters on March 6, if the Centre failed to respond positively to the demand for statehood to Telangana by then.
Mr Rao said the MPs, MLAs and MLCs would resign and highlight the ''betrayal'' politics of the Congress and the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Telangana issue in the budget session.
Demanding that the Congress also submit its opinion in writing to the UPA Sub-Committee on Telangana issue, chaired by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, as most of the parties have submitted letters to the Committee in support of Telangana, the TRS leader urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to announce an official declaration on Telangana before the deadline.
Alleging that the Congress was 'dilly-dallying' on the issue, he demanded that the Centre ask the Sub-Committee to submit its report in a week and immediately start the official process for the formation of Telangana.
Coming down heavily on the Congress and the TDP for accusing the TRS of cheating the people of Telangana, Mr Rao warned TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu against making ''insulting statements'' on his party.
