Tata Motors appoints 80 youths for small car plant
Kolkata, Jan 16 (UNI) Tata Motors today announced appointment of the first batch of 80 local youths as trainees at the Singur small car plant.
Company sources said the youths, educated the in state-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITI), had been given intense training at Tata Motor's plants in Jameshedpur and Pune since March, 2007.
The sources said another group of 311 individuals, all from Singur villages, were now undergoing training at different training institutes.
"After completing their respective programme, they will undertake a trade test to be conducted by the West Bengal Government's Department of Technical Education&Training(DTET) to be followed by a 15-month hands on training at Tata Motor's facilities and a trade test to be eligible for employment at the Singur plant and vendor facilities," the sources said.
