Bhubaneswar, Jan 16 (UNI) The State Health Department is organising a workshop on January 22 to sensitise Zilla Parishad Presidents and Block Chairpersons for effective implementation of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM)programmes.
The main aim of the workshop is to generate awareness among the members in certain key areas like what would be their role in NRHM programmes and how they will shoulder their responsibilities in order to ensure effective implementation of health activities under NRHM according to people's need, official sources said here today.
Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik, Ministers of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Women&Child Development are scheduled to grace the occasion.
NRHM had already started sensitization workshops at Block level for Sarapanchs, Panchayat Samiti members as well as Zilla Parishad members.
In all 13,315 Panchayat functionaries had already been sensitised on the concept as well as on their roles and responsibilities in effective implementation of NRHM.
The NRHM was launched by the Union Government in 2005 to improve the quality of health services both in rural and urban areas.
