Jaipur, Jan 16 (UNI) Lauding the achievements of the Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan, newly-appointed BJP state unit president Omprakash Mathur today expressed satisfaction over the impressive increase in the state annual plan sanctions for the current fiscal.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Mathur said ''good governance and effective economic policy'' of the Vasundhara Raje government in the state during the last four years had earned accolades at different fora.
He said the Planning Commission had also acknowledged the state government's good performance and had effected 20 per cent increase in Rajasthan's annual plan 2008 to 2009.
Effective financial management, pro-investor policies, power reforms and achievements in infrastructure development during the past four years had paved the way for Planning Commission's clearance to Rs 14,000 crore annual plan for 2008 to 2009 as against last year's Rs 11,600 crore, he said.
Mr Mathur lauded the steps taken by the Vasundhara Raje government in addressing agitating Gujjars demanding ST status. '' The state government is comtemplating to grant a special economic package to Gujjars,'' he added.
He said the state government was also considering creation of new Nomadic and similar caste categories for extending four to six per cent reservation to them.
