Labourers rescued from well after 23 hours
Meerut, Jan 16 (UNI) Two labourers, who were buried in a well after it was filled with soil, were today rescued after nearly 23 hours.
The incident took place in village Milana of Bhagpat district, some 60 kms from Merrut, Uttar Pradesh.
Labourers Mainu, Sajid and Jahid entered the well yesterday afternoon to carry out some repair work and got buried under the soil.
While Jahid was taken out soon after, the others could not be traced.
Circle Officer (CO) Vishla Vikram said the district administration undertook the task of digging the well with a JCB machine. The operation was, however, stopped last night when none of them could be traced, apprehending that they might be dead.
However, it was after the villagers raised an alarm this morning that the digging was resumed and Mainu, 37 and Sajid, 25 were rescued after nearly 23 hours, the CO added.
