IED blast in north Kashmir solved, three HM militants arrested

Srinagar Jan 16 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed to have solved the December 30 Azad Gunj, Baramulla IED blast when they arrested three militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) along with some explosives and detonators.

Two soldiers and a woman were injured and a vehicle of 16 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) was damaged in the blast.

During the investigation, police got a tip off that two HM militnts Tanveer Ahmad Zargar and Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan had planted the IED in a shed belonging to one Nazir Ahmad Ganie and later triggered it when an army vehicle was parked there.

Police spokesperson said later it was confirmed that three more HM militants Sameer Ahmad, Mohammad Shafi and Mohammad Rafiq were involved in fabricating, planting and detonating the IED.

All the three were arrested, he said adding the explosive material was transported from Pattan to Baramulla and nitroglycerin from Srinagar and later handed over to Tanveer.

The IED was later planted by Tanveer and Imtiyaz along with Sameer Rafiq and Shafi Mir.
