Panaji, Jan 16 (UNI) Hailing the 41st Anniversary of Opinion Poll Day today that led to the formation of Goa on May 30, 1987 and cutting across party lines, members of the state Legislative Assembly today resolved to take all measures to keep the Goan identity in tact.

Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, speaking on the debate on a revolution moved by lone woman Congress member Victoria Fernandes immediately after the Question Hour, said his government would strive for preserving the identity of Goa through various measures.

''The House on this 41st Anniversary of Opinion Poll Day remembers it with gratitude and congratulates all the sons and daughters of Goa who worked hard during the Opinion Poll Campaign and succeeded to preserve the distinct identity of Goa within the Centre,'' the resolution said.

Ms Fernandes herself played a significant role in mobilising women force to participate in the Opinion Poll conducted on this day 41 years ago.
