Centre to review RD programme in NE tomorrow
Agartala, Jan 16 (UNI) The Ministry of Rural Development has convened a two-day meeting tomorrow with the officials of NE region for reviewing the performance of the Department of Rural Development and the Department of Land Resources.
According to Tripura Rural Development Minister Jitendra Choudhury, the meeting would review various programmes of rural development and department of land resources. It would focus on financial and physical progress of all schemes released up to last December and requirement of funds for rural development schemes during 2007-08; status of finalization of BPL List and Indira Awaas Yojana waitlist.
The meeting would also discuss the issue related to utility of DRDAs and alternative arrangements for effective implementation of various rural development schemes and specific shortcomings, inadequacy in the implementation of the programme by individual states and to get an indication of the strategies proposed by them to further improve their performance in 2008-09.
The meeting is expected to generate adequate inputs for streamlining processes as well as appropriate revision of guidelines, procedures instructions for implementation of individual programme and also to help remove bottlenecks, if any, in the smooth operation of the programme, Mr Choudhury underlined.
