Amritsar-Guwahati Express jumps tracks, train services disrupted

Kishanganj, Jan 16 (UNI) Three bogies of the Amritsar-bound Amritsar-Guwahati Express jumped tracks near Magurjan station, about 35 km from here in Bihar.

Three persons of the general compartment were injured, according to the railway officials here.

Train services on both Up and Dn track between Kishanganj and New Jalpaiguri (NJP) section of Katihar division of North-east Frontier Railways (NF Rly) were disrupted for over three hours following the derailment.

Senior railway officials said three rear bogies of the train jumped tracks. The bogies, however, did not overturn.

The NJP-bound Darjeeling Mail and Guwahati-New Delhi North-East Express trains were halted at Kishanganj.

Train services resumed on both Up and Dn lines around Ten AM after three hours.

Relief trains were immediately rushed from Katihar.

The derailed bogies were detached.

The Amritsar-Guwahati Express resumed journey, the railway officials confirmed.

Katihar Division Railway Manager (DRM) Mehtab Singh rushed to the derailment spot.
