8 school children injured, 2 serious, as vehicle overturns

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) Eight school children were injured, two seriously, when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned after colliding with another vehicle in Chittaranjan Park area of South Delhi this morning.

While six of the injured were relieved after first aid, two with serious injuries were admitted to the Batra Hospital, said a police official.

The vehicle, a Tata Sumo, was carrying 17 students of Balwant Rai Mehta Vidya Bhawan in Greater Kailash when it overturned in Chittaranjan Park.

The injured students, aged 7-11 years, were first taken to a nearby dispensary before being shifted to the Batra Hospital.

Driver Farooq was arrested for negligent and rash driving.
