Wheat issue: MP CM writes to Centre
Bhopal, Jan 15 (UNI) Protesting against supply of substandard wheat under the Public Distribution System to Madhya Pradesh's denizens, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has urged the Centre to supply good quality wheat.
''Higher support price should be fixed for farmers and wheat allotment enhanced for Above Poverty Line families,'' he said in a letter to the Union Agriculture Minister. Copies of the missive were released to the press today.
Mr Chouhan alleged that visits to the state's rural regions revealed that the public were dissatisfied with the imported wheat being supplied. The quality of wheat from other states was ''much'' better. Information was received about the presence of ''weeds'' in the imported wheat.
