Udupi, Jan 15 (UNI) Puttige Mutt pontiff and the remaining 'matadhipathis' of Asta Mutt (eight mutt of Udupi) today almost sorted out a 'compromise formula', giving hope for a solution to the issue surrounding ascension of Paryaya Peeta and performing of Sri Krishna pooja in Udupi temple.
Talking to newspersons here, Sri Vishvesha Thirtha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt, who is on a three-day fast from today, said a 'formula' had been evolved to sort out the issue relating to religious tradition in Krishna mutt, including the Sri Krishna pooja. This had come as a result of the mediation by the Uttaradi Mutt pontiff.
For agreeing to this formula, Puttige mutt seer Sri Sugunendra Thirtha had put forward certain non-religious conditions before the 'matadhipathis'. However, mediations were on urging the pontiff to withdraw the conditions.
If the formula was agreed by all, the 'matadhipathis' would participate in the Paryaya procession on January 18 and extend full support during the Paryaya, he said.
''If Puttige seer withdraws the non-religious conditions, I will break my fast,'' Pejavar seer said, adding that he was confident of sorting out the controversy over 'Paryaya Peetarohan' and Sri Krishna pooja.
However, he declined to divulge more details about the formula.
Meanwhile, the Puttige seer, when contacted by reporters here said he had not yet informed them about withdrawal of the conditions. However, he categorically stated that he would not withdraw those conditions and also wondered why the Pejavar seer disclosed the matter to the press when it had been agreed to maintain secrecy in the matter.
