Jammu, Jan 15 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Peerzada Mohd Sayed has tendered his resignation from both the Cabinet as well as the chief of Pradesh Congress Committee following the corruption charges that rocked the ongoing state Legislative Assembly.

''Mr Peerzada has submitted his resignation from the post of Education Minister as well as from the presidentship of JKPCC,'' Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said while talking to reporters outside the House.

The Chief Minister further said he had forwarded the resignation letter of the Education Minister to the Governor Lt Gen S KJ Sinha (Retd) for his approval.

Talking to UNI, Mr Sayed, said he had resigned in order to facilitate the inquiry into the corruption charges leveled against him in the Legislative Assembly.

Acting swiftly on the disclosures made by Mr Shoaib Lone, MLA, in the House yesterday, the Chief Minister ordered arrest of ''conduit'' via whom a bribe of Rs 40,000 was taken from the legislator to clear his sister's file.
