Rohtak, Jan 15 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced that sportspersons of the State showing outstanding performance in prestigious sports competitions, would be recruited directly in the Police Department.
''Therefore, the sportspersons should work hard, excel in sports and in turn get jobs as a gift'', the Chief Minister said while speaking at the closing ceremony of a three-day sports competition, which was organised by Dr. Ram Dhan Memorial Sports Club at village Kiloi in Rohtak District.
He also said that with a view to promote sports among the people in rural areas, the State Government had decided to construct more than 150 sports stadia. Each such stadium would cost Rs 50 lakh.
While urging the players to bring laurels to the state and the nation in international meets, Mr Hooda said that now they need not worry about their jobs.
Haryana was the first state to take a decision to recruit outstanding sportspersons directly in the Police Department.
He said that the State Government has already appointed outstanding sportspersons as Deputy Superintendent of Police and Inspectors. This practice, he said, would continue.
While paying rich tributes to Dr. Ram Dhan Singh, the Chief Minister said that he had brought laurels to Haryana.
Mr Hooda gave away trophies and prizes to the winners.
In case of Basketball competition, the team of BSF got first position and was awarded Rs 21,000 in cash and a trophy.
In competition of Kabbadi National Style, the Sports Authority of India's Chauhan Joshi ranked first whereas Air Force was second.
