'Nashikrao Tirpude' award for Prakash Dubey

Nagpur, Jan 15 (UNI) Veteran journalist and editor of the Nagpur edition of Hindi daily 'Dainik Bhaskar' has been selected for this year's Late Nashikao Tirpude Memorial Journalism award.

Speaking to reporters here today, Rajkumar Tirpude, Chairman of Yugantar Education Society, said the award was being given to Mr Dubey for his contribution to journalism, and consisted of a memento and Rs 10,000 in cash. The award would be presented to Mr Dubey at a function to be held here tomorrow, he said.

The award had been instituted in memory of late Nashikrao Tirpude, veteran politician and former Maharashtra deputy chief minister, who was himself a journalist, before he entered politics, Mr Tirpude said.

Yugantar Education Society, founded by the late Mr Tirpude, had instituted the award in association with Nagpur Union of Working Journalists (NUWJ) and Tilak Patrakar Bhawan Trust, he said.

Mr Dubey, who began his journalistic career from Nagpur, has worked for Hindi daily 'Navbharat Times' in various capacities in Mumbai, Bhopal and New Delhi. He is editor of the Nagpur edition of 'Dainik Bhaskar' since its launch in 2002. The former Press Council of India (PCI) member has several awards to his credit, including the first Rajendra Mathur Memorial Journalism Award (1995).
