Kottayam, Kerala, Jan 15 (UNI) Kerala Congress leader K M Mani today came down heavily on the CPI(M) for its extravagance in the name of organising party conferences.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said it was not becoming of a political party to show off such money power for organising party conferences. If the party had spared a portion of the money being spent in the name of party conferences, it would have been sufficient for giving free rations to those living below the poverty line for a few months, he noted.
Criticising the CPI(M) for trying to create a division in all communities, Mr Mani accused the Marxist party of being a synonym of groupism.
State Finance Minister Thomas Issac and Education Minister M A Baby have been given charge of creating division in the Christian community and Cooperation Minister G Sudhakaran for creating problem among Hindu believers, he alleged.
He appealed to the God fearing and secular parties and people to fight unitedly against the ''Marxist misrule''. The liberation struggle was not against any party, but the ''misrule'', he said.
Kerala Congress would organise Panchayat level party conventions and door-to-door campaigns in this regard till April this year, party Chairman C F Thomas said.
