Panaji, Jan 15 (UNI) Goan NGO, Utt Goenkara's Spokesman Adv Aires Rodrigues today moved the Bombay High Court through a writ petition demanding to register an FIR against Information Technology Minister Dayanand Narvekar and others in the Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat land scam immediately.

The petition demanded an FIR to be registered on the basis of the complaint Adv Rodrigues had filed with the DSP against Mr Narvekar on December 24 last.

The matter, mentioned for early circulation, would be heard by the Court on January 21.

Adv Rodrigues in his petition, filed under Article 226 of the Indian Constitution, also sought that the offences committed by the ministers and other directors of Info Tech Corporation be investigated and action be taken.

He submitted that the authorities had been avoiding to take action as the IT minister was also the in-charge of the law portfolio.

He also sought damages against the State Chief Secretary and the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Panaji for non-performance of their statutory duties.

The petitioner mentioned that he had on December 24 last, filed the complaint under Section 7 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and also Sections 406 and 409 of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to the giving away of 1,80,000 sq mt of land by Info Tech Corporation, headed by the minister, at an average rate of Rs 4,500 per sq mt as against the market rate ranging between Rs 20,000 and Rs 35,000 per sq mt.

The minister and his associates, the petitioner said, sold the prime land for personal benefits at their ''whims in a clandestine manner without conducting any auction or issuing any tenders at a throw away price, thus defrauding the public exchequer and the revenues of the Government by crores of Rupees''.
