New Delhi, Jan 15 (UNI) A reporter of a prominent Hindi news channel was allegedly attacked by unidentified miscreants in the Jhandewalan area of Central Delhi, even as police claimed it to be an accident after arresting a truck driver.

Nannu Khan, the driver of a mini truck, was arrested following a complaint of an accident involving a scooterist, police said today.

A case under Section 308 of the IPC (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) had been registered after the complaint was lodged last night, it added.

The reporter, in her complaint alleged that she had been attacked by two men on two motorcycles last night while standing close to the Jhandewalan metro station.

She was later taken by a passerby, Umakant, to her office, close to the place of 'attack', from where she was rushed to the Gangaram Hospital where she received stitches.

The police on the other hand said it was an accident after the arrest of a truck driver who hit the scooter, which later fell on the reporter causing her injuries yesterday.

Substantiating its claim, police said the passerby, who took the injured reporter to her closeby office, appeared before it and narrated the whole incident after the 'attack news' was flashed by the channel.
