Central Revenue South Zone Sports Meet tomorrow

Kochi, Jan 15 (UNI) As many as 800 athletes, including Olympians Anju Bobby George and K M Binu, will vie for honours in the 40th Central Revenue South Zone Sports Meet beginning here tomorrow.

Talking to newspersons here today, Central Excise and Customs Chief Commissioner A S R Nair said athletes from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh would compete in 16 disciplines, including football, hockey, volleyball, basketball and cricket in the two-day event.

The winners in the meet would qualify for the all India meet to held at Kolkata from January 28 to 30.

Mr Nair said the three revenue departments of Income Tax, Customs and Central Excise were in the forefront of providing job opportunities to outstanding sportspersons in the country.
