New Delhi, Jan 15 (UNI) All central government offices in the national capital will remain closed on January 20 on account of the tenth day of Muharram, an official statement said today.
Earlier, the administrative offices in Delhi were to remain close on January 19, it added.
The tenth day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammad, at Karbala in modern-day Iraq in 680 AD.
The day is observed as victory of virtue over evil.
