Bangladesh "A' bag LG Amateur golf trophy

Chandigarh , Jan 15 (UNI) Playing consistent golf, Jamal Mollah and Sahaid helped Bangladesh A' to annex the team title with an aggregate two-day total of 289 in the 107th LG All India Amateur Golf Championship at the par 72-round Chandigarh Golf Club here today.

Chinese Taipei B' emerged runners-up with a total of 300 with Chien Yao Hun and Hao Sheng Hsu, superseding their A' side comprising Chi-Hsien Hsieh and Tao Huang who finished third with 306. Sri Lanka A' finished fourth with 307 while Malaysia B' finished fifth at 309. Hosts India finished sixth at 310.

Meanwhile, top seed Jamal finished as the winner in the individual strokeplay qualifying round with a 36-hole total of level par 144. Overnight leader Shahid finished second with 145 while Rudresh Sharma and Rahul Bakshi finished joint-third with a total of 146. Rudresh was four-under coming on the final hole but a bad approach shot on the final hole landed in the water and made a double bogey to finish at two-under par 70.

Local lad Ajeetesh Sandhu who also shot a two-under par 70 on a day where sub-par scores came at a premium, finished fifth at 147 while Vikram Rana was sixth at148.

Arie); 310 India A' (Abhishek Jha, Manav Das).
