London, Jan 15: The average man will guzzle 14,000 pints of alcohol in his lifetime, says a new research. More specifically, an individual consumes 11,600 pints of beer or lager, 1089 pints of cider, 5082 glasses of wine and 110 litres of spirits.
The findings were based on a poll, conducted by online market research company onepoll.com, which asked 5000 men about their drinking habits. The survey found that on average men drink 402 alcoholic drinks every year. Survey revealed that men down six pints while watching sport, another four after work in the pub and two glasses of wine with their girlfriend or wife. Booze-filled Friday and Saturday nights meant six pints were swilled on average.
The study also revealed that the average bloke would work his way through 1.5 litres of cocktails, 12 glasses of champagne and nearly half a litre of liqueurs each year.
"These results are pretty startling to read. We see on the news how Britain is pictured as an alcohol-loving society but this shows just how much we down on a regular basis," the Daily Record quoted Onepoll spokesman John Sewell, as saying.
"Whether it be socialising with friends, special occasions or after work drinks, the amount soon adds up.
"Some men may be giving the beer a rest during the first few weeks of January to recover from Christmas but they'll soon be back on it," he added.
