New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) Denmark's Thomas Bjorn and Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez have confirmed their participation in the Johnnie Walker Classic, which tees off at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon from February 28 to March 2.
India's top pro Jeev Milkha Singh, will spearhead the local challenge in the tourney.
The presence of the European duo consolidates a strong line-up that already features Australian Adam Scott, currently the world number seven, Vijay Singh at world number 10, England's Ian Poulter and Colin Montgomerie of Scotland.
Thomas Bjorn and Miguel Angel Jimenez produced one of the most tantalizing finishes ever in history of the Johnnie Walker Classic in 2004.
Jimenez, nicknamed "The Mechanic", fired a four-under-par 68 at Bangkok's Alpine Golf and Sports Club for a four-day total of 17-under-par 271, snatching the title from the big Dane whose chances dipped dramatically on the back nine en route to a 71.
Bjorn boasts nine wins on the European Tour, with his last victory coming in May 2006 when he won the Nissan Irish Open.
Both Jimenez and Bjorn will both be looking for a win in India to boost their chances of qualifying for the Ryder Cup when Europe defends the famous trophy against the Americans at Valhalla in September.
A victory for Jimenez would make him the third double winner of the Johnnie Walker Classic behind Tiger Woods and Ernie Els.
