TADA Court awards 31 years imprisonment to Pak militant

Jammu, Jan 14 (UNI) The TADA and POTA Court here today awarded 31 years imprisonment to a Pakistani national.

The police said the accused, a Pakistani militant belonging to ISI, in order to strike terror in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, crossed the border and came to India.

The militant brought explosive substance, on March 27, 1995 to create tension among the people. The bomb was planted at Coffee House (at present Press Club of Jammu).

The bomb explosion caused damage to property but no casualty or injuries were reported.

On the sentence, Presiding Officer TADA/POTA Court, Mr Sanjay Gupta observed that keeping in view the whole circumstances of the case the accused, a Pakistani militant identified as Sonaullah was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for seven years under section 3 of TADA and another seven years RI under section 4 of TADA.

The accused also faces seven years of imprisonment under section ESA, and further undergo imprisonment for a period of five years under section 5 of ESA Act and section 14 of Foreign Act the accused shall undergo imprisonment for 5 years. The Court clarified that the all the sentences shall run concurrently.
