Now details of your undelivered tax refunds on IT portal
Mumbai, Jan 14 (UNI) Salaried tax payers, who failed to receive their refunds for one or the other reason will be relieved, as the Income Tax department has decided to put the details of such undelivered returns on its website.
The assessees can also give the details of their present address in the space provided in the website itself, which would be sent to the Assessment Officer to process the new refund order to the assessee immediately.
The initiative, which is a part of the on-going 'Grievance Redressal Fortnight' has been taken in view of the large number of undelivered returns that the department has received in the last couple of years.
According to the department, many refunds sent from the Central Processing Centre, which is functioning from the Aaykar Bhavan at Bandra here, have been received back undelivered from the postal authorities either due to want of correct address or the postman finding the place locked.
The details of the undelivered returns could be seen at the department's website, www.incometaxindia.gov.in, a statement said today.
According to the statement, the information is available assessment year wise, from 2003-04 onwards.
