Manipur first Film Festival concludes

The
first
film
festival
of
Manipuri
Cinema,
2007,
organised
by
the
Film
Forum
Manipur,
which
began
on
January
six
concluded
last
night
at
the
Shankar
Talkies,
Lamphelpat,
Imphal.
A grand function was held here and various cultural programmes were organised at the ceremony. About 19 jury members selected the nominees for the various categories. About 38 productions participated in both the feature and non-feature film categories where the best cinema of the state vied to win the coveted awards.
The nominees for all the categories were announced and the final results will be declared later.
The directors whose creations made an entry into the festival were Bishwamitra, Romi Meitei, Ishomani, Tej Kshetri, Eepu, O Gautam, Ksh Kishorkumar, Amar Raj, Homen Wai, Muhindo, Oken Amakcham, Kh Diya, Birvadra, Maipaksana, Surjakanta , Mema and Ibomcha.
In the non-feature film category, Oken Amakcham, Ningthouja Deepak, Ishomani, Bobby Wahengbam, Ak Bimol, Subhas E, O Gautam, Ronel Haobam and Haobam Pabankumar were the directors whose creations were screened during the festival.
Meanwhile, State Youth Affairs and Sports Minister N Biren said the state government would provide assistance to the organisers.
