Sagar, MP, Jan 14: A man, who attempted self-immolation in the 'Janta Durbar' of BJP MP Virendra Khateek, has succumbed at a hospital in the state capital.
Palak Shikshak Sangh President Shivprasad Ahirwar had attempted to immolate himself on January 7 to protest the indifference of administration to his demand for construction of a school building. He sustained severe burn injuries and was admitted to Hamidia hospital in the state capital.
Superintendent of Police Hari Singh Yadav confirmed Ahirwar's death. Ahirwar had submitted a memorandum to the district administration about one month back warning them that he would immolate himself if his demands were not met.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had ordered Divisional Commissioner L S Baghel to inquire into the incident. The main opposition Congress is staging a demonstration against the immolation incident. The Congress has formed a committee -- headed by former minister Vitthalbhai Patel -- to inquire into the incident.
