Kerala Govt calls for improvement in public health system
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 14 (UNI) Kerala Health Minister P K Sreemathy today called for a partnership between Local Self Government and Health Department to improve the public health system and address inequities in health care.
Inaugurating a National Conference on Emerging issues on Public Health, orgaised by the Achuthamenon Centre, Sree Chithra Thirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology here, she identified several initiatives taken under the NRHM programme like the campaign for total sanitation with community participation and setting up of a separate health university to achieve this.
She lauded the efforts of the central government to combat the twin problems of communicable and non-communicable diseased through the agencey of NRHM.
Mr Sreemathy called for a political commitment to enhance the allocation on health for the state to meet the threat posed by the reemergence of infectious diseased like Dengue, Chikungunya and Leptospirosis.
