Datia Collector removed after CM's surprise visit

Bhopal, Jan 14 (UNI) Datia District Collector Ashok Kumar Shivhare was removed immediately after Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made a surprise visit to two villages of the district by a helicopter yesterday.

In an attempt to tone up the administration ahead of the year end Assembly election, the Chief Minister made surprise visits to Gohana and Dheerpura villages in Datia and Dubli village in Rajgarh district.

Mr Chouhan also made pillion riding on a motor cycle during his village visits and directly interacted with the villagers and heard their problems.

On hearing about the Chief Minister's visit to Datia district, Gwalior Commissioner Komal Singh and Datia's Collector and Superintendent of Police also rushed to meet him. Mr Chouhan directed the Commissioner to take immediate action on the grievances of the villagers, official sources said.

On his return to the state capital, Mr Chouhan ordered removal of Mr Shivhare, whose successor was yet to be appointed.

During the previous Congress rule, then chief minister Digvijay Singh also used to undertake such surprise visits.
