Bangalore, Jan 14 (UNI) Member of the Bangalore University College Teachers' Association today staged dharna in protest against Railway recruiting outsiders to the Group 'D' post in preference to Kannadiga candidates.
The teachers, who boycotted Semister valuation at Central College shouted slogans against Railway Board and demanded due consideration for Kannadigas in the recruitment.
Political leaders including Mr Nadagouda also joined the agitation alleging stepmotherly treatment meted out to Karnataka in the recruitment by the Railway Board.
Meanwhile, various pro-Kannada organisations, intensifying their agitation, staged demonstration in front of Contnment Railway Station and ransacked computer and furnitures.
More than 100 activists were taken into custody by the police following the incident.
