Allahabad, Jan 13 (UNI) Owing to the recent terrorist attacks at several places in Uttar Pradesh, unprecedented security arrangements have been made for the annual 'Magh mela' commencing here tomorrow.
''Tight security arrangements have been made for a peaceful mela,'' District Magistrate Ashish Goel and SSP Dipesh Juneja told a press conference at the mela administration camp here.
The Special Task Force (STF) and Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) were deployed in the Mela area. The policemen with clean image were stationed in the area to control the irregularities, but even if some irregularities come to light, department would take strict action against the culprits, they said.
Twelve police stations and 24 police chowkis were installed in the campus. The police team, including 7 DCPs, 2 inspectors, 120 sub-inspectors, 500 home guards, 950 constables, 12 lady sub-inspectors, 75 lady constables and 175 head constables, flood police, horse riding police, 2 company flood relief police, 4 company of PAC, 2 company of RAF had been garrisoned in the mela premises, they informed.
The SSP and DM further appealed the public to help the police with their corporation.
Any objectionable item should be immediately reported to police, the DM underlined.
