Banka, Jan 13 (UNI) At least eight villagers, including three women, were injured, some seriously, when they were attacked by a tiger near a sugarcane field at Dina in this south Bihar district this evening.
Official sources here informed that the fully grown tiger suddenly came out of the sugarcane field near the village and attacked the villagers, including the women, when they were returning home after the day's work.
However, overcoming the intitial shock when the villagers fought back with whatever they could lay their hands on, the tiger fled.
Soon the injured were rushed to a nearby primary health centre by the local villagers.
Though it was not immediately known from where the big cat strayed into the sugarcane field, it was believed that it might had come from the nearby Banka forest range.
Meanwhile, a massive hunt had been launched by the district Forest department officials to capture the tiger, still believed to be hiding in the field, the sources added.
