Jammu, Jan 13 (UNI) Three Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were gunned down by security forces in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said today.
Acting on a tip off, a joint team of army and police came across two LeT militants during a search operation in Bikhrain area of the district last evening.
In the ensuing gunfight, troops killed both the militants, identified as Altaf Hussain and Irshad Ahmed, sources said.
Two AK 57 assault rifles, two grenades, 37 rounds, one wireless set and eight detonators were recovered from the encounter site, they added.
Earlier in the afternoon, the army had gunned down an LeT militant in an encounter on the upper reaches of Bagwa village in this district.
One AK-56 assault rifle, three magazines and a mobile phone were recovered from the possession of the slain militant, who was identified as Farooq Ahmed Bhat.
