Hyderabad, Jan 13 (UNI) Senior Congress leaders of Telangana will meet All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi on January 28 to explain the people's sentiments on separate Telangana state.
Talking to newspersons here today, Congress Working Committee(CWC) member and MP G Venkataswamy said the leaders met at his residence and discussed the high command's proposal to constitute the second States Reorganisation Committee (SRC) on Telangana issue.
He said they would explain to Ms Gandhi the consequences of the high command's proposal.
Mr Venkataswamy had already threatened to quit his Lok Sabha seat if the SRC was constituted to decide the fate of Telangana.
He said the party would face serious problems in the next elections if the high command went ahead with its decision to constitute the SRC.
AICC Secretary and MP Madhu Yaski said the Congress was not against the formation of separate Telangana and expressed hope that the High Command would listen to their views.
Party MLA M Satyanarayana Rao said majority of the Congress leaders in the region were against the constitution of a second SRC.
