SAD-BJP govt has failed to address grievances of farmers: Cong

Muktsar, Jan 13 (UNI) The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) today took the SAD-BJP government to task for failing to redress the problems of the farmers.

Addressing a political rally on the occasion of the annual Maghi festival here, PPCC chief Rajinder Kaur Bhattal was critical of the government for its complete failure to improve the economic condition of the farming community.

"The government failed to take any positive step to waive farmers debt", she said.

Mrs Bhattal said that it was the Congress led UPA-government was watching the interests of the farming community of the country. It was the UPA government that hiked the MSP of wheat, she added.

Lashing out at the state government, Mrs Bhattal expressed concern over the law and order situation in the state. She criticised the government for involving Congress leaders and workers in false cases.

Former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar, who is a member of the All India Congress Committee while addressing the rallly said that the state government completely had failed to fulfill the promises it had made to the people in the assembly polls last year. He predicted and in the next Lok Sabha polls, the Congress would win all the 13 seats in Punjab.

Mr Brar claimed that there was no unanimity between the alliance partners-SAD and BJP as a result development works were suffering.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) also organised a political conference in which its president Simranjit Singh Mann criticised the Punjab government for making Haryana a partner in the Chandigarh international airport project.
