Panaji, Jan 13 (UNI) Veteran CPI leader A B Bardhan today called for defeating the designs of politicians and parties whose sole objective is to destabilise the existing regimes for selfish ends.
Addressing the XIV Goa State Party Conference, the CPI General Secretary urged the cadres to develop base in Goa by involving more women force so that the party could contribute to the ''factor of stability'' in the State Assembly.
Ridiculing frequent efforts of politicians changing parties and sides paving for destability in the government, he said Goa does not need a government led by communal forces, but a secular, democratic and stable government with principles and programmes.
Hailing the struggles against Special Economic Zones (SEZs) that forced the Government to seek denotification of the three notified SEZs, Mr Bardhan favoured rapid industrialisation of Goa.
''SEZs are neither necessary for industrialisation nor inevitable,'' he said and added that SEZs were a conspiracy of the capitalists for pushing the real estate speculation.
He appreciated the role of the CPI in Goa against the SEZs from day one and advised the party to strive for industrialisation to benefit the workforce.
State CPI Council Secretary Christopher Fonseca later presented his report to the presidium.
