New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) The mercury rose today, giving the people here some respite from gusty icy winds continuing since yesterday.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.4 degrees celsius today against 7 degrees celsius yesterday. The same trend showed the maximum temperature climbing up to 20.5 degrees celsius against 18.9 yesterday.

More significantly, the weatherman predicted the normal weather to return from tomorrow. "The north-western winds over north Kashmir of the country have blown over. There is no longer any cause for the cold to make another come back and bite," he said.

The sky is expected to remain clear. The temperature may stay around 8 degrees for next 24 hours, according to the met department.

The cold set in yesterday, taking the people by surprise.

The previous week had been unusually warm. No rainfall has been from any part of the city. Humidity however remained at 87 per cent at maximum and 38 per cent at the minimum.
